Moon Light Over the Lotus Pond 荷塘月色

This piece is inspired by a lyrical prose named Moonlight Over the Lotus Pond, written by one of the most famous and respected Chinese modern writers, Zhu Ziqing. The prose depicted the beautiful scene of the moonlit lotus pond in Tsinghua Garden, implicitly expressing the author’s complex thoughts and feelings of dissatisfaction with reality, longing for freedom, and wanting to detach from realty but unable to. The prose not only reflected the writer’s love of the lotus pond but also left the footprints of the upright intellectuals of old China wandering and advancing in misery for future generations.
